One of the weaknesses of O'Hare airport is the bathrooms, which were not kept up very well at all. But they seem to acknowledge this strange devices I'd never seen before on the toilets: they provide a clean seat cover with the wave of a hand...

When I got to Tampa, the terminal was deserted. I was expecting Mom (if not Cat and Evan) to meet me there and was not aware that they'd changed the security rules so that family can't meet passengers at the gate anymore. After a short internal debate, I decided to take the automated people-mover train from the terminal into the main building. I've never seen the people-movers at Tampa's airport empty before.

But at least I found Cat, and shortly thereafter Mom and then Evan outside with the car. It had been a long day already and yes, I realize it shows.

That didn't stop us from getting up at the crack of dawn the next day, though. We drove north about an hour and a half to Homosassa, where warm springs flow into rivers where manatees like to hang out in the winter months. The dive shop we were looking for was located in a mall that featured one-stop shopping, American style.
