[ Morning skate ]

The next morning we got up and met with my mother to have lunch (not in photo). Then we headed back to the canal (closer to downtown this time) to have another skate. As you can see, I was very enthusiastic.

[ Emma turned ]

So was Emma, and the nine million people who had the same idea.

[ Cops ]

The only people who weren't enthusiastic were the cops, who were giving this dog-owner a hard time. There are clearly posted signs warning against bringing animals onto the ice. What seemed excessive, though, was the way the police responded to the dog -- with red lights flashing as they tore down the length of the canal on their four-wheelers.

[ Holding my glove ]

Here I'm holding my glove, pensive, concerned that perhaps it's just not cold enough for what I'm wearing and wishing I'd brought something lighter.

[ Train ]

After the afternoon skate, it was time for Emma to head back to Toronto because she had to work the next morning. I, on the other hand, was staying behind so I could get my dentist to sign my passport renewal application. Luckily the Super Bowl was on TV that night...

[ God in Tolkien ]

On the way back to Toronto the next day, I saw this in a truck stop gift store. I almost don't know what to say, but I feel I should share it with everyone. Maybe you can let me know if you have a good way of expressing it.

And that's pretty much it.
