Our hotel for the first night blew away the competition's pathetic clock-radio offering. It had the invincible clock-radio-phone!




Another advantage for our hotel was being located on Robson Street, which seems to be the big retail strip in downtown Vancouver. We set out just before nightfall to get some dinner.




On the way east through downtown, we spotted the distinctive new(ish) public library building. Alas it was too late to go in, so we'll have to save that for another time.




It seems that every big city has to have a ripoff of the Flatiron Building.




We sat down for dinner on the patio of a nice Italian restaurant in the Gastown area, directly across the street from the 'steam clock.' It's supposed to go every fifteen minutes - we were there about an hour and a half and it only blew once.
