[ Hillside ]

The state park at Eldorado Canyon is, curiously enough, wedged into the bottom of a canyon. On either side is fairly steep rock walls with some trees to add colour.

[ Rock-climbing ]

Them there are rock-climber's canyon walls. (We did indeed see some climbers at one point, but they were so high up and far away that they looked like ants. Ants with helmets and rope.)

[ Janice starts up the trail ]

We started up the medium-intensity trail. We had nowhere to go but up.

[ Smiles ]

I was all smiles at this point. But behind those bug-eyed sunglasses I was unsure of what lay before us...

[ Dark clouds ]

The summit was dark and brooding...

[ Sunny trail ]

OK, I'm kidding. It was actually very pretty on the way up, with the sun keeping us more than warm enough and the clouds rolling over the tops of the mountains with a refreshing breeze.
