After dinner we wandered around to see some of the sights and found that in most public squares and parks they were holding outdoor music concerts in a variety of genres.
The next morning we headed to the Prado art museum, which has an excellent collection. Although the lines outside were pretty long, we got in pretty quickly and didn't find it too crowded which was really the only break we got on the trip -- everywhere else we went was crawling with tourists.
Emma and I decided to enjoy some nice spring weather by wandering around Madrid's main urban park (remind me again why Toronto doesn't have one of these in its downtown core?), the Retiro Park (or Parque del Buen Retiro), which features some of the most suspiciously green water I have seen since a visit to Chicago (and it wasn't during March, either).
King Alfonso XII seems awfully proud of himself up on that high horse.
