Something struck me as strangely sad about this abandoned soother next to a dry fountain.




We made several trips on Madrid's subway system, which is in surprisingly good condition and has excellent reach around the city. The one thing that struck me as most odd, however: it was more comfortable in the stations than on the trains - the exact opposite of Toronto's system.




They were really pushing the whole car crash theme, this time outside the main royal palace.




I took a few fairly boring shots of the royal palace through the closed fence (the palace was closed for an 'official' event when we were there) and then this slightly less boring shot of the Catedral de la Almudena.
