Look how shiny I am! (I was covered in sunscreen the whole time we were in Hawaii - I barely came back with any tan at all.) We saw at least one person climbing to the tops of the rock formations and diving into the rough waters, which caused us a little concern until we finally saw him climb out of the water five minutes later.

This young couple was laying in wait for someone to come along and take their photo with their camera for them.

In the parking lot we finally had our first good look at a mongoose. They (what's the plural? mongeese?) were brought to the islands on purpose to deal with a rat problem, and not only did they fail to get rid of the rats, they went after the indigenous Nana goose instead, which is now endangered. The mongoose, on the other hand, is about as ubiquitous as squirrels in Ontario.

We did go in the water on this beach, but it was very rough, and the undertow was pretty evident. We didn't stay in long. These kids were confident in what they were doing though.
