[ Cheapest gas in Hawaii ]

As we rolled into Hilo, which at 40,000 people is still the second largest city in the entire state, we found the clear winner in our survey of gas prices. At the going exchange rate, it worked out to about $1.05Cdn/litre, about 15 cents cheaper than it was back in Toronto when we left. Meanwhile, Hawaiians everywhere complained about paying the highest gas prices in the country.

[ Japanese Garden in Hilo ]

Right outside the airport in Hilo we found a nice Japanese Garden where we ate our lunch before our big adventure for the day.
