It turns out the Hertz lot is directly under the flightpath for LAX. I looked up and saw this plane and at first mis-read the markings on the underside as 'ex-lax' which I thought was a strange thing to put on there. In fact, it says EI-LAX . EI is the code for aircraft registered in Ireland. This particular aircraft belongs to Aer Lingus.




With the helpful assistance of the in-car GPS navigation system, we hit the open road for our hotel, which was right downtown. With the exception of our 6am drive to the airport to return on Friday, the highways were never this clear during our trip.




The first thing I recognized (beside the Hollywood sign) was the Staples Center. The LA Lakers were deep into NBA playoffs while we were there, which on one occasion caused a deep rift between ourselves and other hotel guests over which sport to watch on the hotel lounge TVs.
