Despite numerous attempts by the GPS to throw us off-course, we reached our hotel, the New Otani. It's a Japanese-themed hotel aimed at business travelers right in the heart of downtown LA. I mean, if you were a tourist would you stay in downtown LA? I think not.




The hotel room was pretty decent (although I didn't really need two beds). The windows had sliding partitions on them (very oriental, I guess) that might well have been meant to conceal just how dirty they were.




For only second time in my life, I experienced the strangeness of having a phone in a hotel bathroom. (See my trip to London for the first.)
