After checking into our hotel, we wandered over to the Bonaventure hotel, which I immediately recognized as the site of the exciting climactic scene in In the Line of Fire, a stellar Clint Eastwood movie. In the film, John Malkovich's character falls to his death from one of those elevators onto this glass ceiling above the lobby. I found the movie showing on TV two nights later. Coincidence? I think not.




The day we arrived there was not really anything conferency going on, so we went for a short expedition in the rental car. Again, the highway was suspiciously devoid of traffic. We went up and down Sunset and Hollywood Boulevards, as well as a brief abortive foray into the hills of Beverly fame.




Unless I'm totally mistaken (it happens), this is the view down Hollywood Blvd. I was trying to navigate and take pictures at the same time, which isn't always conducive to either.
