[ Big atrium ]

The atrium was pretty nice but not being used for much.

[ Carriage on Broadway ]

Later that evening we were back out looking for dinner on Broadway, where (it being Friday night) even more of the tourism industry was at work.

[ Lauren at the Big River brewery ]

We discovered somewhat by accident that our waitress at dinner was a big hockey fan, which leads me to another point (one James explored in much more detail in the first of his series of blog postings about hockey in Nashville) - despite the preconceptions we might have had about the hockey fan base in Nashville, we found a ton of fans and not just in the arena. While maybe not everyone knew all the nuances of hockey history and tradition, they are bringing the typical American sports fervour to the game. By the end of our meal the waitress had pulled up a seat and was showing us her iPhone snaps from some of the Predators games she'd been to. That kind of enthusiasm will serve Nashville well if the club can survive there.

[ The Stage on Broadway ]

It was then time to take in some of the famous Nashville music scene. Neither of us is particularly into country (nor were many of the Nashville residents we ran into - I was expecting everyone to be deep into it, but apparently not) so the Stage was a good spot to see something live, if not traditionally country.

[ Inside the Stage ]

The Stage was packed, it was hot, people were drunk. In other words, we didn't stay for the whole set. But I'm glad we spent some time there.
