[ Trees in Fort Ward

State Park ]

My first destination on the island was Fort Ward State Park, on the southern end of the island. It's got a nice walking trail along the waterfront and there weren't too many people around. Just getting down from the parking area to the waterfront, you go through some impressively big (wide and tall) trees.

[ Waterfront

]

The south end of the island faces onto a channel leading towards Bremerton, and features some commercial fishing operations and birds that like to line up on wooden posts.

[ Two little people

]

These two people seemed to be sitting there watching the fish hatchery or whatever it was sitting out in the middle of the waterway. Notice that it's gotten quite a bit sunnier.

[ Abandoned Jeep

]

There was an old Jeep sitting near a park warden building, looking like it was abandoned...

[ Spider web

]

... well, except for the spiders.
