As we steamed away from the waterfront, the weather started to look a little grey - the thing I discovered about Seattle is that they really mean it when they say if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes.




A second ferry left the terminal at exactly the same time we did, and headed towards Bremerton, which is basically along the same route. That left it steaming alongside us for most of the journey.




About two thirds of the way across, a ferry that had just left Bainbridge Island passed by in the other direction. This shot gives a better perspective of how the ships are double- ended.
