[ Marching band ]

One of the lowlights of this particular hotel is the evening "entertainment" that they put on. The first evening they brought in a colourfully dressed band that marched, sort of, through the lobby and into the lounge, where we were playing cards and getting up to speed on the free-flowing alcohol at the various bars in the hotel. There were quite a few children about and this boy had his fingers in his ears for good reason. The band was pretty good but incredibly loud.

The next morning we went over to Atlantis, the dominant hotel on Paradise Island. Actually it's several hotels all brought together under one brand, and while it was certainly nicer than our hotel, it was also totally unaffordable for us. You have to pay through the nose for everything there, and the staff were very well trained to keep us Riu riff-raff away.

[ Me, smiling]

One of the public areas at Atlantis is the marina, where we enjoyed imagining that we were actually rich enough to own a yacht.

[ Nice yacht]

This was my favourite - huge, modern, clean. A lot of the yachts had little runabouts and jetskis that they could launch into the water but this one was even better ...

[ XXX ]

... its launch was nicer than any boat I'll ever own, complete with its own radar and 3 outboards (300hp each!) on the back. You can never have too many horses.
