Inside the main hotel at Atlantis is a giant aquarium that you can, at times, talk your way into without paying. We failed at that, but enjoyed the view along the walls of the restaurant (where we didn't eat).

Standing with the fishies.
![[ Parrot fish ]](bahamas021.jpg)
This pesky little parrot fish was constantly swimming up and down against the glass. We saw some more like it later in the week when we went snorkelling.
![[ Atlantis lagoon ]](bahamas022.jpg)
This man-made "lagoon" offers guests of the Atlantis a beach even when the real beach (beyond the trees) isn't being hospitable.
![[ Closed beach flag ]](bahamas023.jpg)
In fact, with the high winds they were actually barring guests from going out onto the real beach, let alone swim in the ocean. The flag at the lifeguard station clearly illustrates no swimming but we were surprised they wouldn't even let us walk on the beach. And that was before they found out we weren't guests of the Atlantis.
(Note the cranes in the background - they're building even more hotel space on the island to expand Atlantis further.)
