We had seen the odd horse-drawn carriage on our walk, but once we reached the fairgrounds it became obvious that they were all headed here. Those not simply circulating on the roads around the fairground in an old-school version of "cruising the main drag" were actually dropping off or picking up family members.

There are two lessons to be learned from this: 1) Winnie the Pooh has crosscultural resonance, and 2) it's hard to make balloon animals with paws for hands.


[ See and be seen - horseback style ]

In addition to the tremendous predominance of traditional Spanish attire, anyone who owned a horse within a hundred miles of Seville had to have been there riding it around the city that week.


[ Cleanup crew ]

I guess there's at least one major downside to having so many horses around.
