Up until this point we had been following our noses until we realized that all the women in the flamenco dresses seemed to be heading in the same direction. But then we reached a central square where all the women got on city buses. This posed a problem because we didn't know where the buses went, and we weren't confident we wanted to be lured that far into the unknown. So we shrugged our shoulders and decided to press on towards the river that runs through Seville in the hopes it would provide some nice scenery.

This is what the city of Seville offers in the way of prime riverside real estate. It's probably the least inspired use of a waterfront I've seen anywhere in Europe.

As luck would have it, we gradually found ourselves once again surrounded on our walk by people heading in the same direction. After a few minutes we reached a bridge across the river where it became clear that we had inadvertently picked up the trail once more, this time sharing the sidewalk with all the people too cheap to take the bus to wherever it was that fate was leading us.

After quite a long walk we eventually rounded a bend in the road to see what was clearly a fairground. Our guidebook had been somewhat vague about the circumstances of the annual spring fair, and had omitted any help in locating the epicentre of the festivities, but we had managed to find it ourselves.
