Not only are visitors allowed to roam through a large portion of the palace, they're also free to head out into the once-private gardens attached to the estate. I didn't get a good picture of it, but we came across a peacock outside.




Next to the palace is the cathedral, with the original weather vane on display on the ground outside.




Inside the cathedral it was very difficult to capture the scale of the building with a camera. There are some people standing in the foreground of this picture that I hope gives at least some sense of proportion.




It's a problem we've all faced: you build yourself a massive cathedral and then you can't afford to keep the lights going so you resort to some lower cost alternatives. Talk about house poor!
