[ Kona Brewing Company ]

Later that night we had dinner out at the Kona Brewing Company. They certainly have a brand going, with a ton of merchandise available and a recognizable logo, but the food was fairly mediocre. With the cost of eating out on the islands pretty high, we weren't able to go crazy every night.


[ Bad Cooperage ]

These kegs led to a brief discussion among us of the meaning and origins of the word cooperage.


[ Waipio valley ]

The next morning we began our day-long circumnavigation of the Big Island, with the first stop being Waipio Valley. You need a four-wheel-drive vehicle to actually go down the rough road into the valley itself, but the view from the top is still pretty impressive.

We weren't quite sure what the people in the foreground were doing, but they left soon after, hiking down the road into the valley.
