I got up and was out of the hotel by 10 the next morning, feeling absolutely no jet lag at all. Right nearby was the Canadian High Commission, complete with a BMW with the plates "CAN 2." There was no sign of CAN 1.




This is, despite what you might think, a thrilling action shot with high dra ma. Well, only if you look closely - the bus in the distance is in the process of getting back over into his lane at the last possible moment after pulling out directly into the path of the oncoming taxi in order to pass another bus. Talk about aggressive drivers.




One of my first stops on New Year's Eve (day) was Harrod's, which is a heck of a lot more up-scale than I remembered it from the last time I was there (many years ago). But lest I think everything had changed, they're selling a rescue helicopter toy I distinctly remember having as a kid about 15 years ago.




I make it a habit to visit any available science museums when I travel, and London's got a great (free!) one. The only part that wasn't free was a visiting exhibit of James Bond movie props that was, from the cordoned-off pay area, pretty disappointing. The gondola at the top, by the way, is from the London Eye.
