[ Hilly street ]

Trust me, it's true what they say about San Francisco being hilly. Luckily I wasn't going up this hill as part of my plans. In fact, I did my level best to avoid a lot of up-and-down travel. (Get it? Level best. Hardy har har.)

[ Dark ]

This is really not how I intended this picture to look, but I'm still reasonably intrigued by the way it turned out.

[ Fire box ]

You don't see these everyday. Well, you do if you live in San Francisco or one of these other cities.

I climbed up towards Coit Tower, figuring the clearing blue skies would make for a nice view. As it turns out, there was a pretty decent view from the road leading up to it, let alone from the top.

[ View towards Alcatraz ]

At the base of the tower is, well, parking. But parking with a spectacular view! That's Alcatraz out there on the water.

[ Coit Tower ]

Built in 1933 to honour city firemen. That's all you need to know.

[ Elevator floors ]

They sure know how to keep things simple with the floors.

[ View of downtown ]

Some views from the top...

[ View of Pier 39 ]

[ View of Golden Gate ]
